A tiger’s a beautiful animal. They are magnificent to look at when you’re safely separated by a moat in a zoo or if you’re protected by a car in a forest. But what would you do it you were on a boat with one all by yourself, with no protection? That’s exactly what happened to Pi in Life of Pi…
Pi has a great life. He lives in India with his parents and everybody else seems to like him and he’s got something unique, something most kids would want. He lives in a zoo his father owns, yes he’s got his own zoo and he can go there and do almost anything he wants to. He’s very happy to be there and spends a lot of time there.
Suddenly his parents decide to emigrate to Canada. As any child would, Pi hated the idea of leaving his home, his animals and his friends and moving to a new location, he knows nothing about. But he has to do it anyway.
The family sells the zoo and almost all their animals and they begin on a journey to Canada. They decide to go on a ship, as they still have a few animals which they need to deliver to their new homes. Everything seems okay on board first, but then a storm occurs and the ship sinks. Pi saves himself and ends up on a lifeboat, with a hyena, a zebra, an orang-utan and a tiger.
