Marshside in Living With Ogres
Marshside is the place in which the ogres reside in the book “Living With Ogres”. Marshside as the name says is a marsh where Karen, Tom, and Anna the Steelchild Ogres live with Matt, Donna and Arlene who are their slaves.
It’s not a very nice place. The ogres are very mean and expect a lot of work from the slaves for nothing in return. There aren’t many living beings in the vicinity as the ogres have scared everything, animals, other ogres and humans, out of this place. It’s a very lonely place. Karen Steelchild, the ogre that runs the house actually likes this place a lot. She likes the loneliness she has created and the power she has gained over this entire land and she wants to keep it that way, but it’s a little too lonely for the slaves as the ogres and themselves are the only life they can see for miles.
What is an Ogre?
An ogre is a huge, tall human like, fictional creature. They are known to be scary and evil. The word Ogre is French. It was first used was by French poet Chrétien de Troyes. He used it in his verse Perceval, the Story of the Grail.
When it first started out, they were always shown as big evil creatures in fictional settings that attacked and troubled humans and other beings. They got so popular that many evil people of the past have been called ogres. It’s also sometimes used in modern days. As time passed by, some ogres have been depicted as nice friendly characters.
5 Ogre Story Books Children Should Read
Ogres are interesting characters. They first started out as mean, evil creatures that only cared about themselves and did lots of cruel disgusting things. Then there was Shrek who helped us see ogres from a different angle. Shrek showed us that ogres can be kind and friendly sometimes.
You have them in books, television, movies, etc. Out of all these places the best place to find them is in books. Ogre story books where you get to see the lives of ogres and their surroundings and you get to enjoy them can entertain you again and again.
