An ogre is a huge, tall human like, fictional creature. They are known to be scary and evil. The word Ogre is French. It was first used was by French poet Chrétien de Troyes. He used it in his verse Perceval, the Story of the Grail.
When it first started out, they were always shown as big evil creatures in fictional settings that attacked and troubled humans and other beings. They got so popular that many evil people of the past have been called ogres. It’s also sometimes used in modern days. As time passed by, some ogres have been depicted as nice friendly characters.
One such character is Shrek, who is known to be a lonely, but still friendly Ogre. The movie shows that he liked living alone in the woods away from everybody and only troubled humans if they provoked him. Shrek is a funny ogre who makes everybody even adults laugh. There’s also the friendly Ogre of Oglefort, who protects the princess and Smash the friendly Ogre in the book Ogre, Ogre of the Xanth Series. A few more friendly ogres can be found in many other books.
I think Ogres are one of the best characters ever created. As like these characters, they play a big role in my book “Living With Ogres. The book revolves around a boy Matt, who lives with Ogres. He is employed by them as a slave and he doesn’t like it there. It’s a fantasy story filled with adventure. If you would like to find out what it’s like for a human to live with ogres, you should read this book. You can read the first chapter for free on this page.
