Sepp Blatter has made some comments again. He’s stated that racism between footballers should be settled on the pitch.
According to him…
“There is no racism, there is maybe one of the players towards the other, he has a word or a gesture which is not the correct one, but also the one who is affected by that, he should say it’s a game, we are in a game.
“At the end of the game, we shake hands, this can happen, because we have worked so hard against racism and discrimination.”
Racism is a big issue in football at the moment. Even though here in England it’s not very prevalent – although those alleged comments from John Terry and Luis Suarez did occur here – Racism is more prevalent in other European countries. Players like Roberto Carlos, Samuel Eto’o, Zoro etc. have all faced racist chants from football crowds in Russia, Spain, Italy, etc.
Just take a look at the video below:-
It’s horrible, isn’t it?
These footballers who make racist comments need to be punished. They are role models to the crowd and little children all over the world look up to these footballers and want to be like them. Players need to be taught to behave properly so that they will act properly on the pitch with the right manners and act as proper role models, influence their fans and help wipe out Racism.
Players need to be shown that racism isn’t tolerated one bit and hopefully they will behave better and so will their fans making the beautiful game pure.
What do you think? Can racism be settled with a handshake on the pitch or should racist footballers be punished? Please leave your comments in the comments box below.
