Cats are the strangest creatures, aren’t they? They leave our houses all day and they comeback home smelling like somebody else or something we don’t like. This does get you really angry. But when they come and curl up near your feet again and they purr at you, you’re back in love with them. Cats and their adventurous lives make cat books one of the most entertaining books.
Below are a few cat Books that will cheer you up:-
1. Warriors by Erin Hunter

Warriors is a series of 6 books that revolve around a cat named Rusty and his pack the ThunderClan. At the beginning of the first book Rusty is a regular house cat, but he has this burning desire to find out more about the wild, away from his regular neighbourhood and when he does go into the forest, he’s invited to join a pack of cats called ThunderClan. After that a journey lies ahead for him and his pack, as they have to survive and battle some of the other gangs of cats like, ShadowClan and BloodClan.
This is one action packed series. The adventures all the cats go through are amazing. Erin hunter does a great job in displaying the hardships feral cats face. She makes it very interesting to read. If you like animals especially cats you will enjoy reading this series and you might also like checking out the other three series of the warrior books.
2. The Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford

Luath a young Labrador, Tao a Siamese cat and Bodger an old bull terrier are left by their owners with their friend Longbridge, as they are away on a trip. Longbridge decides to take a trip too and he goes away fishing and leaves the pets to the care of his servants. The animals don’t wait for him and they take matters into their own paws and they begin their journey back home to their real owners.
This book is great, it has got everything; friendship, danger, love, loneliness and adventure. It’s also been made into a movie which has done really well. Both the book and the movie are entertaining and should be read and watched. Sheila Burnford did a great job in writing this wonderful book.
3. Gobbolino, The Witch’s Cat by Ursula Moray Williams

Gobbolino and his twin sister Sootica are two black kittens who are born to a witch’s cat. While Sootica is happy to be a witch’s cat, Gobbolino isn’t, so he sets off on a journey to become a kitchen cat.
Gobbolino wants to be part of a home, with a real family, like a regular kitchen cat. But his magical powers make it really hard for him to find a proper home. Every time he finds somebody, at first they seem happy with him and then they get disappointed because his magical powers always cause trouble, even though he doesn’t mean to cause any harm. This sends him on a long adventure as he moves from one owner to another.
Gobbolino, The Witch’s Cat is a well written book with very good usage of new vocabulary. Children will enjoy reading this book. The author Ursula Moray Williams shows us through Gobbolino the desire every child and human has to fit in with others they look up to and all the effort they put in to get along.
4. Time Cat by Lloyd Alexander
Ages 9 and up

Jason is not extremely surprised or excited to learn that his cat Gareth is able to talk. What really excites him is when he finds out that Gareth can travel through time. Jason then convinces Gareth to take him on a journey through time and their adventures begin. They start off by first visiting Ancient Egypt and then continue on their journey by visiting Rome and Britain, Ireland, Japan, Italy, Peru, Isle of Man, Germany and America.
Time Cat by Lloyd Alexander is a very good book packed with adventure. It’s very descriptive and easy to read. If you don’t already, this book will make you like both time travel and cats. Time cat is also a very educative book, as it provides a lot of historical information on the places both Jason and Gareth visit.
5. James Herriot’s Cat Stories by James Herriot
Ages 8 and up

James Herriot’s a veterinarian who lives in York UK. This book contains 10 short stories each involving different cats he treated. Some of the cats you will meet here are Oscar, Alfred, Olly and Ginny.
A very well written book, which both cat and animal lovers will enjoy reading. All the stories in this book are based on true stories revolving around James Herriot and the cats he treated. You will feel his love for cats, his favourite animal when you read this book. This book will make you love cats even more.
